A high-performance 1K clear lacquer, which gives a crystal clear finish to metal, wood and painted surfaces. An acrylic lacquer that can be applied over all water and solvent-based basecoats. It has a rapid drying time, and provides a durable, UV and petrol-resistant finish.
Being a one-component clear lacquer it is generally easier to use than the 2K lacquer. Two different nozzles are supplied with each can, including the unique Vari-nozzle, to provide the user a choice of spray pattern for flexibility and a professional high-gloss, smooth finish.
Tips on spraying clear lacquer
Whilst many of the solutions described in our article on overcoming issues with spray-gun coatings also apply to aerosol spray lacquers, particular advice on achieving the best results with this product is:
Prepare the surface so it is smooth, with no sanding marks or scratches.
Degrease the surface and remove any dampness, dust or contamination.
Shake the can for at least 2 minutes (you should hear the mixing ball inside), and during prolonged use.
Apply in a well-ventilated, dust-free area in 2 or 3 thin coats from 25cm away.
Conduct a spray test first, if the spray pattern is uneven then check the cap is seated properly, and is clean. The nozzle can be cleaned with solvent.
After use, turn the aerosol can upside down and spray for a second or two to clear the nozzle and valve.
Allow the lacquer 5 – 10 minutes to ‘flash-off’ between coats.
Drying time is 60 minutes at 20°C. Wait until the lacquer has fully cured before polishing (24 hours at 20°C)
Remember to wear PPE (respirator) and avoid breathing fumes during product application and cure.
